Updates: How We Are the Church Right Now

We may not be in the same room, but we are in this together

The early church met in homes, and now, it’s meeting in our homes too. We want to use this page to answer your questions about how we’ll be the church during this season of social distancing. Check back for updates.

Each Sunday at 10 a.m. we’ll be streaming our worship gathering. Using the Church Online platform, it’s a real experience of community, with interactive live chat and the opportunity to request 1 on 1 prayer.

Visit clearview.online.church to join us each Sunday at 10 a.m. (& let us know if you experience any technical difficulties.) Want to find out more, share, or watch it later? Click Here.

Home Groups will be moving online as well, meeting in video chat groups. Staying connected to good friends matters even more now. Contact your home group leader with any questions.

Got some extra time at home and looking for a group to join? 🙂 We’ve got space for you.

We can all do good right now by staying in contact with those who might otherwise be isolated or afraid. Pray for medical personnel, scientists and researchers, and those in helping professions. Pray for all who are adjusting to new realities in their work and home life. Most of all, pray for the church worldwide to shine the light of Christ, to love God and others well, and to inspire faith over fear.

Here are some other ways to do good right now:
• Penpals – We’re creating a penpals program so we can encourage and deepen our connection with our new friends at the Volunteers of America Southpointe Place Apartments. While we can’t go visit in person, this is the next best thing! Sign up and you’ll be paired with a specific resident with whom you’ll correspond. Click here to sign up!

• Activity Bags – Our friends at Common Ground are in need of activity bags to pass out to the children they are unable to host at this time. These will remind them that they are loved and missed and keep them mentally engaged this summer. You can help by making the bags or just collecting the items. When ready, drop off with any of our ministers or contact John Hawkins for pick-up. We’ll gather them all and deliver to Common Ground. Here are the recommended items for the activity bags:

    Activity books
    Learning books
    Coloring books
New or very gently used books
    Flash cards
    Sidewalk chalk
    Small playdough
    Gallon zip lock bags

• Serving Hands-On
We’re aware of opportunities to distribute food with Common Ground Community and Noel UMC Food Pantry. Common Ground has specific criteria/requirements for volunteers at this time. If interested, please contact John Hawkins for more information. To serve at Noel, call their office at 318-221-5207.

If you or someone you know is in need, contact us. We’re here for you.

Our ministers are available to pray and talk with you at any time. Whether you need help navigating this season or just want to chat and joke to stay connected, we are here for you! We can talk, FaceTime, or video chat. Call or text 318-734-8447 to set something up or reach out to any of our ministers by email.

Join us for prayer and coffee! Each Sunday, be part of a group that prays for the world, for any prayer requests you have, and for that day’s worship gathering. 9-9:30 a.m., via Zoom. Sign up here to join the prayer group.

Wanting to help you find words for this unique season of social distancing, we’ve created a free prayer book called Prayers for this Moment. Click here to view and download.

As you know, ClearView is able to minister thanks to your generosity. We anticipate we will have new opportunities to reach out and serve our community during this season. With that in mind, we ask that you continue to give, as you’re able. If your habit has been to give in person on Sundays, you may give by mailing to ClearView Church, 4830 Line Ave. #333, Shreveport, LA 71106 or through online giving. Please do not mail to LSUS.

Our middle and high school students will have weekly opportunities to talk with each other and Jacob and Shelby, via online video chats. Jacob will be sending out specific information to CSM parents and students, and we look forward to our group growing through this season.

KidsView is online too! Each Sunday we will update the KidsView page with video lessons, games, and discussion questions for each age group so parents can easily host KidsView at home.

Follow our private KidsView parent groups on Facebook or Instagram for other opportunities, including Sunday Funday with Ms. Ally, Creativity Prompts, and KidsView Storytime!

Check back regularly as we continue to flesh out ways to be the church in this season.
