Ways We Serve Shreveport-Bossier
We love Shreveport-Bossier. It’s our home, and we want to see it flourish. Here are some of our favorite ways of doing good in the SBC.
Common Ground Community is committed to making a difference in the Cedar Grove neighborhood through compassionate outreach and consistent relationships. We partner with them regularly, painting and cleaning up their facility, organizing donations, serving some of their Thursday night meals, and volunteering in their community choice market and Christmas market.
Common Ground’s ministry also includes a chapel service, community garden, after-school tutoring, clothes closet, and summer day camp. They are making a real difference in their neighborhood, and we’re happy to serve with them.
The Hub & Purchased
The Hub exists to give everyone in Shreveport-Bossier access to a restored life. Through their Lovewell Center downtown they provide a host of resources to those who are homeless or in need. And through Purchased: Not For Sale, they serve women and children experiencing sexual exploitation and trafficking.
We love to partner with The Hub, whether that’s cooking up a community meal, donating needed items, or teaching computer skills classes. But for fun, nothing beats sponsoring their first-ever Retro Prom fundraiser!
Holy Angels is a place where children and adults with developmental disabilities receive world-class care and experience the joy of community. A few years ago we were invited to create a moment of joy for the Holy Angels residents by putting on an Easter egg hunt! It’s become a cherished annual tradition. Each spring we stuff and hide about 2,000 eggs across their campus, and they find every. single. one. of them!
Soon after ClearView got started, one of our small groups heard this idea about showing up at laundromats to pay for strangers’ laundry. They couldn’t get the idea out of their heads and soon they were test driving it themselves. We were the first in our area to do so, and since then we’ve washed over 20,000 loads of laundry!
RACK – Random Acts of ClearView Kindness
The gospel is surprising, catching us off guard with God’s grace. We like to do random acts of kindness to surprise and encourage others. We’ve left quarters at Redbox machines, brought food to hungry nurses, and even sent boxes of gummy bears to deployed airmen.
Shreveport-Bossier is served by some of the best non-profit organizations in the country. Since our start, we’ve made it a point to partner with them rather than “reinvent the wheel.” We’ve been able to add our efforts to the work of Volunteers of America North LA, Gingerbread House, YMCA of NWLA, Providence House, Early Head Start, Sunset Acres Elementary, Dress for Success, Caddo Council on Aging, and more!
