The Exodus story is both ancient and immediate. Ancient: Exodus captures the experiences of Israel thousands of years ago, how God led them from slavery to freedom. Not many stories have been told and retold more. (Here’s looking at you, Cecil B. Demille!) And yet… Immediate: Oppression is all around us – victims of war, human trafficking, and all varieties of injustice. We know neighbors enslaved by addiction and loved ones with oppressive amounts of debt. Not many stories seem more current and close to home. The truth is we all need an Exodus. And not just from external realities, but internal ones as well – from the fears, habits, and ways of thinking that enslave us. We all need a way out. In this new teaching series we’re going to walk with the Israelites, from slavery to freedom, because it’s the road we’re all on. We’ll trace the specifics of their Exodus in pursuit of our own. God made a way where there was no way. He made a way out of tragedy, slavery, and oppression. That road still leads to hope and new life. And God still leads the way.
