Trust in God, not willpower.
Basic powers of observation are sufficient to call into question the saying that “change is constant,” at least when it comes to human beings. In truth, most of us are stuck--unable to change and fruitlessly battling the struggles we’ve known for years. We can either give up or surrender to something greater than our own willpower.
The love of God is the only force in the world strong enough to change the human heart, and when we surrender our lives to Christ, we begin a lifelong journey of transformation. On almost every page of the Bible, you see examples: God works with enemies, frauds, sinners, and nobodies and transforms them into friends, examples, disciples, and leaders.
As a church, we value transformation, which is to say that our concern is not that people would become attenders, but disciples.
